Back To School Trends

Welcome back to Johnson & Wales. Preparing for the new school year is stressful because it means getting used to new classes, schedules, and opportunities. As we begin a new semester, one big struggle that most of us can have is finding a selection of clothes that can last you for the rest of the year. It is also hard to keep up with fashion trends, especially ones considered micro, that only stay for a while. However, in this list, you will find different fashion trends to keep an eye on that will help you to find your style and to help it last for the rest of the year.

Color stockings

Look into color stockings if you want a fun and colorful way to style your outfits. In recent years, we have seen an uprise in past fashion; recently, the early and late 2000s are bringing the late 2000s. Who can remember the iconic show Gossip Girl and its style? In the earlier season, Blair Waldorf and her minions wear bright stockings to match her outfits. Instead of the bright colors seen on Gossip Girls, they are now more suitable with primary colors such as baby blue and red, pairing it more with muted colors such as black and white.

Knee-High Socks

If wearing colorful stockings is too much for you, then knee-high stocks can be more suitable. While they can come in different colors, the primary colors, such as black and white, are better to invest in because of how easy it is to style them, and they can be a good staple piece to have in your closet.

The Color Red

Speaking of late 2000s trends, who can forget the classic red leather jackets seen everywhere in the late 2000s? Now, we may see a resurgence to it, not just seeing the leather jacket but also the color red in different articles of clothing, such as handbags, belts, and boots.

Plaid Skirts

What else is more fit for a school year than a classic plaid skirt? With the rise of 90s trends returning, they have been everywhere, particularly during the fall. The good thing about plaid skirts is their variety; not only would it include mini skirts, but also long dresses and midi. But also, there are a lot of colors to mix and match that can help you look fashionable and creative throughout the school year.

Bows

If you are looking for a fun way to accessorize your hair, then look no further than bow. With the rise of cottage core, bows have been seen everywhere for the last few years. Celebrities such as Lana del Rey, Sabrina Carpenter and Madison Beer have been seen wearing them.

Letterman Jacket

Nothing can go wrong with a letterman jacket for school. It is something that can be easy to style and matches with just about anything. Not only will we be seeing the colorful letterman jacket that we are used to, but also a leather bomber jacket that can help keep warm in the fall while looking fashionable.

White Denim

While blue denim will always be a staple, white denim can add a more subtle and professional look. With fashion brands featuring white in their collections and celebrities such as Hailey Bieber being seen wearing them, we will see a rise in white denim, not just in jeans but also in long skirts.

Business core

With most students in college, it's hard not to want to wear business casual; however, Gen Z and the next generations are finding ways to wear something much chic than what is considered the typical "business casual." The business core will include mini skirts, black blazers, pleated maxi skirts, ties, and knee-high boots to make it cuter.

The most significant trend is to find your style; wearing what is comfortable for you and what you will feel confident in is the season's trend and will help you survive the school year.
