JWU 360! What It Is And Why It Matters

Starting in the Fall semester of 2023, Johnson and Wales launched JWU 360, an informative program for nutrition and health in our dining halls. The purpose of the new program is to call attention to healthier, more nutritious meal options that students can select from while they dine on campus.

According to signage in the Snowden dining hall, the program aims to represent “the university’s larger holistic approach to health.” Additionally, the signage credits students and faculty from JWU’s Culinary Nutrition program as the developers of this year’s newest addition to our dining halls. The dining halls are riddled with screens displaying nutrition information about the food students can consume and are definitely something to keep an eye out for when dining on campus in the future.

Though it is still early in the semester, the dining halls have already rolled out some tasty options that are considered nutritious by the JWU 360 program’s standard. In these past few weeks, Snowden has offered make-your-own Poké bowls, grain bowls, Mediterranean bowls, and even Mexican-style Burrito bowls. The variety of options also showcases not only the different types of healthy options there are, but also that nutritious food doesn’t always have to be leafy greens and whole grains. The menus from the past few weeks have displayed variety in flavors and products, while still maintaining a nutritious value. Additionally, the monitors informing students also point out the importance of balance. A previous TV screen in Snowden displayed information regarding which options to have “more of” and which options one might prefer having “less of.”

If you want to be more informed about the nutritional value of the foods you eat here on campus, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that green and blue JWU 360 logo around your campus dining halls!
