If you’re looking to try something new in Downtown Providence, look no further than Mokban Korean Bistro. Located just a 3 minute walk from Johnson & Wales Downcity Campus, is this Korean restaurant with classic and unique flavors. While it may seem intimidating trying something new, I guarantee you’ll be going back just to have their side dishes and drinks again.
Not only was there a wide selection of different teas to choose from, but also traditional alcoholic beverages to choose from as well. The pomegranate ice tea was tangy yet sweet, and had me ordering seconds. Yet, even if you just get a regular fountain drink, the main course will surely make up for it.
Just as there was a large selection of drinks, this carries into the main dishes as well. There’s vegetarian options, pescatarian, and traditional Korean dishes to choose from. They’ll be served with not only one side dish, but as many as four or more can come with your order! I ordered the kimchi stew, and it did not disappoint. Not only were the side dishes of kimchi, chickpeas, and spinach flavorful, but they complimented the hot spicy kimchi stew in a beautiful way.
Yet, don’t just go to Mokban for the food, go there for the atmosphere and intimacy as well. The decor of the place is dark and rustic, and would be a perfect place to go out with friends for a drink, or a partner for dinner. There’s many tables, and walk-ins are welcome as well. So when looking for a new place to eat, why not try Mokban as your next one?
