Farm Fresh RI

This Rhode Island farmer’s market has fresh produce, food, and beverages. Located in Providence at 10 Sims Ave, the market is just a short car ride from the Johnson & Wales Providence Campus. Farm Fresh RI is open Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., year-round.

The market offers a wide variety of products ranging from items like kombucha or local honey to homemade crepes. The products are all sourced from local growers and producers, which relates to their vision of “50 by 60”. The goal is that by 2060, the Northeast region will produce 50 percent of its food. According to the Farm Fresh RI website, 90% of our food is grown outside the region. There are many ways that the Farm Fresh RI market is working towards their “50 by 60”. One way is increasing access to fresh food both economically and physically. Another way they work toward their goal is by creating more ways that local farms and food businesses can reach consumers. The farmers’ market every Saturday is one way they work towards their goal.

Farm Fresh RI’s vendors vary based on the season, but the current vendors are listed on their website. Vendors included Luluna Kombucha, a kombucha producer that makes authentic craft kombucha. Another vendor was La Creperie, which offers fresh crepes with various toppings ranging from savory to sweet. Another notable mention was Rocket Fine Street Food, which parks in front of the market and specializes in burgers. Farm Fresh RI’s indoor farmers market makes for a great Saturday activity.
