As the semester at Johnson & Wales progresses, it is important to take breaks from studying to decrease stress and increase productivity. On January 26 and 27, the 195 District Park, just a short walk from the JWU Providence campus, held a free event full of color, food, and community engagement.
During the event, there were local food trucks right in the middle of the park. The food trucks included Cafe Modesto, Nanu Burmese Fusion, and Masa Taqueria. Cafe Modesto is a family-run business with the goal of sharing authentic Guatemalan coffee with their Rhode Island Community. Nanu Burmese Fusion is a restaurant and food truck serving delicious Burmese Fusion food to Rhode Islanders. Lastly, Masa Taqueria is a food truck and restaurant specializing in Mexico City-style al pastor street tacos.
In addition to all the delicious food options, there was also entertainment. There were jugglers walking around and a performer with a giant butterfly puppet. The event was part of an art installation called Prismatica, a collection of 25 pivoting colorful prisms. The prisms can be spun, which allows the community to interact with them. According to the 195 District Park website, the prisms will stay until February 20, so if you have not visited the installation, you still have time.
