JWU Athletics Weekly Roundup: Oct. 25-31

Business has been picking up for JWU Athletics, with the season drawing ever closer to the GNAC Championships during the first couple weeks of November. The games played were among the Women’s Volleyball, Soccer, and Field Hockey programs, as well as Co-Ed Equestrian and Men’s Soccer.

Thursday, October 25:

UMass Dartmouth hosted a match against JWU’s Women’s Volleyball team across three sets, with the Wildcats losing in all three sets; 23–25, 11–25, and 17–25. Fortunately, this match did not affect the team’s win-loss tally for the GNAC championships, keeping their position intact.

Friday, October 26:

Windswept Farm hosted the Brown University Show, where JWU’s Equestrian program was named Champion Team, acquiring four first-place finishes and tying with URI at 33 points.

JWU hosted a game on home turf against St. Joseph’s Men’s Soccer team. JWU won the game 2–1, giving the team some good momentum moving into the GNAC Tournament next week.

St. Joseph's played host in a game against JWU’s Women’s Soccer team, with JWU claiming the victory 3–0. This win helped move the Wildcats up to first place in the GNAC Championship with one game remaining in the regular season.

JWU’s Women’s Field Hockey team hosted Regis University, shutting out their competitor 5–0 days before their final game in the regular season against St. Joseph’s on October 30.

Tuesday, October 29:

JWU’s Women’s Volleyball team scored their fourth-straight GNAC Championship victory against Anna Maria, winning all three sets played—25–9, 25–12, and 25–14. Their recent hot streak provides them momentum going into the last four games in the regular season, which they hope to keep moving into the GNAC Tournament later this November.

JWU’s Women’s Soccer squad finished the regular season with another win, this time over Norwich University 3–1. This leaves the team as the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Tournament starting November 2.

Wednesday, October 30:

JWU’s Women’s Field Hockey also ended their regular season with a 1–0 victory over St. Joseph’s. This marks a regular season where the team went undefeated across twelve GNAC games, placing them as the No. 1 seed moving into the GNAC Tournament on November 2.
